My Husband Inspires Me/300

I have a confession, most of you probably already know this about me....

I'm FAT! Yep, just plain chubby I am!

If you want to get clinical about it, I fit into the obese category with the BMI (Body Mass Index) that I have. Ross and I both are OBESE. That's such an ugly word, but it really puts it into perspective when you look at it like that.
This was us when we got married June 4th, 2005.

This was us July 28th, 2009. Now granted, I was 7½ months pregnant in this picture and it's not a full body view, but you can see how much chubbier we are by our faces. And I've only lost 20 of my 40 baby pounds gained, so my face doesn't look that different today.

I've made halfhearted attempts at losing weight and so has Ross, but we haven't been very successful yet. I was losing a few pounds when I was counting points on WW, but then I just wasn't losing after the first couple, so I gave that up.

I have a real struggle with getting into a good exercise routine. Sometimes I feel like I'm just too lazy and then I remember that I still have a baby that gets up in the middle of the night and I couldn't tell you the last time I had 8 solid hours of sleep with no interruption. I used to think that I functioned just fine and had adapted to lack of sleep when Alexis was still a baby. Then she started sleeping all night, 8-10 hour stretches without waking at all and I couldn't believe how amazing I felt and how much energy I had! I'm hoping that Isabel is going to start sleeping for longer than 5-6 hours now that she's eating solid foods well. Another part of the problem is that I don't go to bed as soon as Isabel does, so I've only been asleep for about 2 hours when she's ready to get up and eat.

I also have some self control issues too. It's an all day, constant struggle being at home and exposed to food all day long. If I get a craving for a snack of some kind, instead of resisting and saying no, I just go get it. I love being a stay at home mom, but I think I'll be able to control my eating and get my portions under control once I get back to work (June 15th).

Ice Cream is my other major weakness, I could eat it everyday if I let myself. It's so yummy! I have to really cut back on how much I eat of it and how often and that should really help me out too.

I've kind of gotten off track with all the back story, lets get into what I was really wanting to say. Ross has adopted a new eating style and he's doing really well with it. I'm feeling inspired by him to get myself under control as well.

He starts out with a good breakfast, eats a good size healthy lunch and then has a smoothie for supper. He usually has some carrot sticks and a grapefruit for his 2 breaks at work in the evening. He has done really good this whole week with it and I hope he really sees some results so that he stays encouraged. I have cut back on my evening snacks, I used to eat the majority of my food late in the evening instead of eating throughout the day and I know that is bad.

I'm disgusted with myself every time I look in the mirror, but haven't had the will power to change it. I'm hoping that with Ross getting himself together it's really going to motivate me. I used to use him as an excuse for why I couldn't lose weight, because he has just as many weaknesses as I do, if not more. But, he's pulling it together, so I can't use that excuse anymore!

Not Fat Friday 3/19/10

I finally have a loss to report. Not a big one, but a loss at least. 1.2 pounds down! It's going to take me a long time at this rate, but at least I'm losing.

My treadclimber did get moved to a more accessible location this week, so I should be able to get into a good exercise routine. Hopefully that will help me to take some more pounds off!

Have a great weekend!

Not Fat Friday 3/12/10

The last 2 weeks have been so busy, I haven't even been trying to watch what I eat. I didn't count points at all and I had lots of bad food. Somehow I managed to not gain any weight at all!

Back to getting serious about it taking some more poundage off this week. Wish me the best!

Not Fat Friday

It's been a rough week. The weekend started out with a birthday party and dinner at Red Lobster, so I didn't even count points this week. I did manage to lose .6 though, so that's better than a gain. I'm up to 6.4 pounds lost.

Back on track today counting those points. Going to Pizza Hut tonight for dinner with Ross' parents, sister and his Uncle Vance who is in from Montana. I already calculated what I'm going to eat, so as long as I don't decide to have anything else we're good to go.This will be the first time Ross' uncle has met either of the girls so we're excited about that.

We're still knee deep in the re-arranging process. Ross moved the desk and computer into the office yesterday and I've been working on getting things settled in here. Today he started emptying the closet in the office and the one in our bedroom and I'm a little overwhelmed at all the stuff that came out of there and trying to figure out new homes for it.

I have a lot of stuff I've kept over the years that I just can't part with, so I'm trying to figure out a good storage system for it. I have tons of boxes of pictures too, I love them all, but they take up space.

I don't know if I'll post this weekend or not, we are going to do our best to get as much done as possible to prepare for the carpet coming on March 8th!

Not Fat Friday

Okay, so I've got some BIG news this week...........I lost .2 pounds, yes, that's right, not even half of a pound.

Oh well, I'll do better this week.

I'm not going to offer any excuses other than to say, I did a little bit of emotional eating this week. That is my biggest struggle. Unlike the majority of people who don't eat when they are stressed, I seem to have the need to eat everything in sight.

So, I've now lost a total of 5.6 pounds, better than none at all! See ya next week!

Not Fat Friday

Another 2 pounds down! I'm up to 5.4 gone. I wanted a little more than 2 pounds this week, but I'll take it. Just means I need to work harder this coming week and maybe, just maybe I'll actually start exercising.

Weight Loss Update

I've lost 3.4 pounds since Monday. Yay! I've been counting my points on Weight Watchers. I didn't have the best week ever as far as making healthy choices, but I stayed within my points.

Trying to break habits is hard. Working on that this week...

Snow Day

Good morning all!

We have about 3-4 inches of beautiful white stuff outside. Ross is going to buy Alexis a sled this morning and we're going to take her sledding for the first time!

Not much else planned for today other than staying warm and doing some baking. I'm making a German Chocolate Cake for Dad since that's his favorite. I'm also going to make some cupcakes for all the kids and I'm going to throw in an angel food cake for the point counters in the family.

I've just about decided that I'm going to try doing Weight Watchers point counting all on my own. I've done meetings and point counting before and if I'm really good I will lose weight. Only problem is, I spoiled myself with WW online because it was so easy to use. I'm not wanting to spend the $40 a month right now to have that, so I'm going to see how I do with my book and slider card for calculating points. I've got to do something, I'm seeing all kinds of people talking about all the pounds they are dropping. And my pounds are just hanging on for dear life.

I'm also going to try to get an exercise routine going...that's one of my biggest struggles. I have a Bowflex Treadclimber that is collecting dust on the back porch. I'm hoping when we get the remodel done and it gets moved into the office I'll have an easier time using it. Right now, it's cold on the back porch and I don't want to take the girls out there with me, but I can't leave them unattended for that long and they don't always nap at the same time either. I do have some "Walk Away The Pounds" DVD's that I like, so that's what I'm going to focus on for now.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!
