Help from my fellow breastfeeding moms

Good Morning Ladies.

This is my second time around to breastfeed so I'm not new to it, but I could use a little encouragement today. Isabel is a different kind of eater than Alexis was, I feel like I'm her pacifier right now. I got about 2 hours of sleep and then another hour a little bit later last night. All Isabel wanted to do was suckle and I'm so tired. She finally is sleeping, Ross had to go out and mow this morning so he took Alexis to Becky's for awhile. I'm going to sleep until Isabel wakes up, hoping for at least 3 hours.

Keep up the good work Mommy!!!!!! :0) Nursing is a hard thing. Hunter was an amazing, natural eater, and Graysen was much more of a challenge! Just keep praying, staring into her beautiful eyes, and resting when you can. Make sure you're eating and drinking enough for yourself as well...

Awwww, I'm so sorry. That sounds like Keaton, too. His only saving grace was that he slept well at night, but he was attached pretty much all day. Does she cry when you try to take her off? Can you introduce her to her thumb (seriously, I tried that with Keaton at one Does she still have her days anpoint, but he was uninterested in his thumb)?

Does she still have her days and nights reversed? Any dairy aversions?

Alright, I'll stop asking questions - it will get better, I promise. :) You know that it is totally worth it if you can just get through the first few weeks. I'll pray for you!

I just kept trying different pacifiers... I needed some break. But after the first couple weeks it was so much better! Hang in there, you are doing a great job! And just remember that one day she will be stiff arming you ;)

Thanks for your comments girls! They were much needed. I think Isabel and I are going to be attached to one another until we reach that 6 week mark and then she is getting a pacifier!

I am a big proponent of pacifiers because I am so against thumb sucking (not that I care if someone lets their kid do it, it just wasn't going to happen in my house if I could help it). Get that binky in her mouth now! LOL! I wish I could give you the book Baby Wise...it talks about getting breastfed babies on a schedule. It totally saved me!!!!!! :o) Even if it meant waking up Gabriel, I did. And he ate every three hours on the dot. And I kept shoving a pacifier in his mouth!

I didn't used to be a fan of pacifiers until my 2 1/2 year old fell in love with hers when we finally caved in and gave her one at about 7 weeks old. I've just always heard that you need to wait about 6 weeks to get breastfeeding established before introducing a paci, if you all are telling me that is not true then I'll be driving to the store to get some!! Alexis was very much on schedule when I breastfed her, when I returned to work after I had her I would wake her up in the middle of the night to feed her even after she started sleeping through the night because I didn't want to lose my milk supply. I haven't worried about getting Isabel on a schedule just yet, but the past few days have been so much better than that first week, she is not wanting to suck constantly now, so I'm getting some more rest.
