MIA

So, I'm not going to have a lot of time this week to come up with anything inspiring (cause you know, I'm so inspiring on a normal basis =) but I will try to squeeze in a post or two.

Last night was the visitation for Lucille. Today is the funeral. I'm really hoping we don't get rained on while we're at the graveside ceremony.

We're still trying to get Alexis to comprehend the whole death situation. I wasn't planning on even taking her by the casket, but she wanted to go up there, so we just let her take the lead and watched to see how she would react. At first she didn't even see her because a bunch of the family were just standing around and blocking her view. When she finally did see, she kept asking, "What's that?" We kept dodging by talking about things around the casket, but she's too smart for that and she persisted until we answered her. We told her the truth, that it was Lucille.

Alexis wanted to go up and see her. Dad, Mom and Ross took her up there while I sat in the front row with Isabel, so I didn't hear all of her questions, but they explained to her all the things I'd already talked to her about. That Lucille had been sick and she died and went to Heaven to be with Jesus. The hardest part was understanding why her body was still there, but she's not really there. At one point in the evening Alexis told me she wanted to go talk to Lucille, I told her she could talk to her as much as she wanted. But then she said she didn't want to wake her up.

I think Alexis is young enough that none of this will traumatize her in anyway, and hopefully she'll understand it eventually. I'm sure we'll have another round of questions today when she's sees it all again.

Thursday I head to St. Louis for Monica's wedding. I'm getting a pedi/mani compliments of my awesome sister-in-law Meredith! And then rehearsal for Alexis and I Thursday afternoon. Pray that Isabel does well over those 2 days. She's not taking a bottle, so it's going to be interesting how we're going to make it all work out. Rehearsal dinner Thursday night and then Friday is wedding bells for Monica and Jeff!

I'm hoping to squeeze in Five Question Friday and maybe a few Easter pictures. Next week will be back to normal and it will be get serious time for some major dieting and exercising time for this fat girl. The beach is less than 2 months away!

Hope you all are having a great week! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

I too am so sorry for your loss...
I had to explain death to Libby several times over the past few months. Hang in there, in time she will understand.
On a happier note - enjoy the wedding!!! And the mani and pedi ;o) And as for Isabel not taking a bottle... well I totally know how you feel - and just enjoy the time together, it will be over before you know it!
